I’ve done this with groups and solo or duet works. It’s a good way of working with spatial forms and mapping based on memory. A good way to warm up before doing more movement in the studio.
When standing in the studio space, imagine the place you live. See the rooms, hallways, cabinets, onbjects, etc. and start to move through the space. Navigate the details, corners of tables, chairs, stairs etc. while you move things around or search for something. Reach for things, open doors and turn on fousetts.
This can lead to mapping out a motif of gestures that you can set and expand on. I’ve also had another participant watch one person go through this exc ersise and write a narrative based on observation.
